How To Keep Great Health Forever!
Each week at LHCC numerous patients tell us how they suffer less pain and aches, less colds and flu, have more energy and can do more in their lives than they have for years. This is why maintenance adjustments are so important. When the hard work is done (corrective care) then for a little extra effort through a regular ‘grease and oil change’ adjustment program you can have your optimal health and keep it. The principle of maintenance works for all aspects of healthy living. After all the hard work of getting fit you don’t then stop exercising and expect to keep that level of fitness. After eating sensibly and healthily for a few years you don’t just go back to junk food and then expect to stay well on the inside? If you take the easy road of sloppy health habits or ignoring the warning symptoms it eventually turns into the hard road of illness and disability. If you take the seemingly hard road of a disciplined healthy lifestyle it later becomes the easy road of continued wellbeing. Health and healing is not some mystery to be left up to the learned health professional to understand. It is available to everyone with a bit of nous and a genuine desire to be healthy and well. So decide now and forever to shun the quick-fix mentality in all of your life’s choices and go for the “maintain for continued gain” option. The old adage “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure” .still rings as loud and true as ever. What is also true is that in life if you’re moving forwards then you are less likely to slip backwards. Choose lifelong wellness by keeping your spine adjusted regularly and living the chiropractic lifestyle!
An Invitation To Help Heal The Asthma Epidemic
2.2 million people in Australia have asthma including one in six children and one in nine adults. World Asthma Day this year is on Tuesday May the 6th. The news releases for it focus on the ‘positive’ theme of “you can control your asthma” and on management plans with doctors that are primarily drug-centred. Those of you who have been with chiropractic for a long time now or have read our testimonial books may feel as concerned as we do here at LHCC that chiropractic is still on the periphery of asthma treatment. Although we treat subluxations and not asthma directly we get an astonishingly large number of people reporting that they can breathe easier with chiropractic care or they have been able to reduce or stop needing their inhaler. So we invite all our patients to pick up our asthma information pack from the front desk along with a voucher for someone you know who has asthma or any other breathing disorder.

For everyone who missed Dr Lynda Blythe’s Advanced Healing Workshop last month the great news is that she has offered to present it again this month. “How To Increase Your Energy By 300% “received great feedback from all who attended so be sure to book early at the front desk if you want to attend. Seating as usual is limited by the size of the room and the workshop will last for half an hour plus time for questions and answers. We are grateful to Dr Lynda for her time and expertise and we feel we are lucky to have her for this time. We are sorry to bid farewell to Shelley who is off to the Sunshine Coast to live. We are all sad to see her go but wish her all the very best with her new life. Thank you for all the gifts you brought us…good luck and we’ll miss you! We are so pleased and excited to have Sue join our staff to take Shelley’s place. Sue is a long time patient and has been a wholehearted supporter of chiropractic and our clinic in particular over the last twelve years. Many of our patients will already have met Sue at our Monday night exercise training class so she already feels like part of the family. Sue has always wanted to be a more involved member of the team and we warmly welcome her to our family! The focus for Chiropractic week 2008 is on healthy sleeping. An information on it such as the ‘Bedside Buddy” booklet can be downloaded for free from the CAA website at: http://www.chiropractors.asn.au.
Straight to Sleep for National Chiropractic Week, May 19-25, 2008
Over 1.2 million Australians experience sleep disorders. Sleep is a vital biological function. It is essential to our physical and emotional wellness. No matter what age you are, poor sleep can affect every aspect of your lifestyle – from work to home to personal relationships. Chiropractic works by removing interference to the nervous system which in turn helps countless other conditions not immediately connected with the spine. Sleep disorders is one of those disorders. To put it simply when your body works well, you sleep well. Chiropractic adjustments can also help many musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain and arthritis. Good sleep helps you to be optimistic, decreases mood swings and helps academic performance. Experts say eight hours of sleep a night is ideal. By looking after our spinal health by getting regular adjustments, having correct sleeping posture, choosing the best mattresses and pillows, and following the tips for healthy sleeping below we can be assured we are doing our best to sleep well and live well.
Chiropractic Tips for Healthy Sleeping
Sleep on your side or back, never on your front.- Use a pillow recommended by your chiropractor that is appropriate for your size and body shape.
- Get the best quality mattress you can afford and turn it every 2 months to prevent dips and sagging.
- Replace your mattress every 5-7 years or when it begins to sag.
- Bend your knees when making your bed.
- Exercise 30 minutes a day.
- Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake before bed time. Alcohol can cause you to wake up during the night.
- Relax before bedtime. Keep a routine.
- Keep the bedroom only for sleeping and remove all TVs and computers from the bedroom.
