Arthritis: Relief and Prevention With Chiropractic
A recurr
ent theme of our newsletter and health talks is that as a population we are living longer but we are generally not living healthier. In fact we are more propped up by the drug companies products than at any other time in history. So its up to us to take more personal responsibility for our health to achieve a natural and sustainable level of great health by making use of accepted wisdom and practicing the principles we learn right here at this clinic. Osteoarthritis is the mechanical (and sometimes chemical) degeneration due to joint dysfunction left uncorrected after accidents, trauma and poor posture. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common degenerative conditions of our time.
It is also one of the most preventable and treatable through the simple application of chiropractic adjustments, good nutrition and special exercises. If spinal misalignments and nerve interference (subluxations) can be corrected soon after their causative trauma then true prevention may result. Chiropractic care can literally add years to your life and life to your years. As the testimonials in this newsletter show, healing and pain relief is possible at any age and in the vast majority of cases. The overwhelming message is that it’s never too late to start care. Our oldest patients at LHCC are well into their eighties and our youngest are only days into their lucky lives when they receive their first adjustments. If you have any family members of any age who have yet to receive the healing benefits of chiropractic then please take time to pass on a newsletter or a voucher from our office. If you would like any of our Doctors to visit or present a talk to a special interest group on living longer and healthier then notify any of our practice members today.
Donna Enjoys Her New Flexibility & Reduced Asthma
I started my chiropractic care around two and a half years ago. I was run over by a car as a small child and remember right through school that I could never sit on the floor cross legged like all the other children in my class. Even taking my driving test over 40 years ago I remember I had to turn my whole body to turn backwards as my neck had very little movement. I am amazed that after such a short time of coming regularly to Logan Hyperdome Chiropractors I have much more movement in my neck and can now turn my head while driving after decades of not being able to do so. When you’ve put up with pain for such a long time you start to think that’s just you and its normal, but movement, flexibility and overall wellbeing can be improved. Regular adjustments have also helped keep my asthma under control. I am very happy with my progress; my only regret is not knowing how much chiropractic could have helped me and my family years ago.

Alan Kicks the Anti-inflammatory pills
After numerous visits to the doctor and prescriptions for anti-inflammatories, which did not agree with me I went to Logan Chiropractic. After only one month the pain in my lower back and legs was gone. I am 71 years old in July but don’t feel it. I go to see John every 14 days and this keeps me fit and pain free.

“It’s On for Young and Old” is the theme for our next Advanced Healing workshop. Preventing and Managing Osteo-arthritis is the first topic and in this presentation we will cover all you need to know about the condition especially reducing the pain and dysfunction which so often affects the spine and nervous system. In the second half we will cover The Longevity Lifestyle , tips and advice that lead to a longer, balanced and healthy ‘Chiropractic Lifestyle.’Coming up to the first term break its time to get your family checked with our School Holidays Scoliosis and Spinal Screening appointments. As a quick test you can observe your child from behind for any unevenness of their ears, shoulders or hips – just slide your hands up onto the hip ‘crests and check to see if one is higher than the other (without tickling them too much of course!) The best way to prevent osteo-arthritis is to maintain spine flexibility and function from an early age. Just like brushing teeth to prevent tooth decay. So don’t be a bunny this Easter and book your children for this complimentary service now!
Dawn Saved from a Wheelchair at 35 and Relief from Migraines a Bonus!
I have enjoyed the benefits of chiropractic care over many years. Following a pushbike accident when I was 11, I suffered dreadful migraines and eventually a loss of movement in my arms as a result of damage to my spine. Specialists told my doctor I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 35. That was when I first tried chiropractic and from then on I experienced relief from the pain I had lived with. In the last few years…I went through two successful knee replacements and the rehabilitation associated with that surgery. I can’t speak too highly of the care and attention extended to me by all the staff of this centre. Far from being in a wheelchair at 35 I am now a great grandmother who has been able to enjoy a full and normal family life and to do all the things we all hope to accomplish in our lifetime. I doubt that this would have been so if I had not availed myself of chiropractic.

Some Tips For Osteo-arthritis sufferers…
Taking harmful chemicals such as anti-inflammatory drugs to treat mechanical problems such as osteoarthritis and subluxation has never made sense to us. Unless tissues are beyond repair you have to find a mechanical, or at least a natural, solution.
Here are some helpful tips you can begin to follow right now;
*Move every joint through a full range of motion until it gets tired, once a day.
*Get adjusted regularly for optimal spinal motion and nerve supply.
*Take classes in yoga, Tai Chi or aqua-aerobics and practise daily.
* Take relieving supplements such as omega 3 oils (cod liver or flaxseed).
* Take glucosamine and chondoitin powder or capsules to help cartilage repair.
* Take anti-oxidants and multiminerals to make sure your body has a good supply of essential building blocks.
* Eat a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables (for the same reasons as above).
* Get a good quality bed – the best you can afford – that is flat, comfortable and keeps your spine correctly aligned.
