Kids have spines too! As with most health challenges, the earlier treatment is given then the better chance of a healthy outcome. The chiropractic scope of practice includes the care of children and childhood is where many adult pain syndromes begin.
Think about it, from birth to poor sleeping posture (such as front-sleeping,) playground falls, sporting injuries and slouching at a desk in school. Our clinical observation is that very few spines reach the age of twenty without five to six significant traumas putting the spine out of normal function or alignment.
The long term consequences we know, from following whiplash cases for example, are premature degeneration or osteoarthritis. The short term consequences are numerous, from back pain, neck pain and headaches the same as adults to a variety of other, seemingly unrelated disorders.
We take our kids to the dentist to help maintain healthy teeth and we feel that the same professional care and attention should be given to our children’s growing spines.
At LHCC family chiropractic care is encouraged so that everyone can experience the benefits of a healthy functioning spine and nervous system.

It is important to realise that chiropractic is not the treatment of any condition. The purpose of chiropractic is to find and reduce stress and interference to the nerve system, allowing the person to experience greater function and an overall improved quality of life. (ICPA)
